    1. That how I grew up: no matter what exotic food I make, I always come back to staples- vegetables, beans, more vegetables, fruits... :)

  11. Did you make your chickpeas stew from chickpea sprouts? I see what appears to be tiny sprouts. What are the other sprouts that you used on the dishes? Could you list the name of the sprouts in future posts? Thanks.
All the dishes look great and good for you healthy.

    1. Norma, you are a start! yes, I pre-sprouted chickpeas, but not on purpose though. I left the chickpeas to soak in the morning and was suppose to cook it that night. But we got very busy and I didn't cook it. So I just rinse it and left overnight. Next morning I had to leave early and again didn't have time to cook it, so I rinsed it again and left. And sure thing, 36 hours later when I finally get back to chickpeas, they had tiny sprouts! I am almost done with my sprouting post, have to take few more picture. Come back to see it! Thank you Norma, you are such an inspiration!

    2. Did you find that your stew cooked much faster with the pre-sproouted chickpeas? Will be coming back for your future posts.

    3. Yes, Norma. How did you know?! I was actually very surprised by the fact that chickpeas were done in less than 30 minutes! Is that why?! Wow, I've learned something new! Thank you!

    4. Actually they cook in 10 minutes. In case you missed it here is the link to my chickpeas sprouts post: http://gardentowok.wordpress.com/2012/01/30/harvest-monday-january-30-2012-growing-chick-peas-garbanzo-beans-sprouts/
Once beans sprouted they are no longer dried beans instead they become a vegetable.

  15. I want what you're having. I love how people are dressing up oats so beautifully these days - yes, want to start my day with that. And because I am chickpea fiend, that stew would welcome me home. And oh yes - the eggplant... mustn't forget the eggplant.

    1. Claudia, yesterday, when I was posting the picture of the stew I was thinking: what did I put in it? It was spicy, and had some other vegetables in it, probably, celery, sweet potatoes and a lot of herbs. I wish I wrote it down...Thanks for coming!

    1. Thank you Hannah. There are actually more than just rye and oats in that mix. I think there is also rolled barley and maybe rolled wheat. Usually I get whatever rolled I can find and mix it together. Rye is my favorite though.
